"Food for Though" Exodus 25:29

Updated: Jan 28

When Scripture Meets Dessert

Every creation has a beginning, and for me, the journey to naming our very first brownie jar — Dark Gold — started with a scripture that didn’t fully reveal itself at first glance.

I chose Exodus 25:29 to accompany this dessert because I knew it carried weight, but like many verses in the Bible, the fullness of its meaning didn’t hit me immediately. It wasn’t until I dug deeper, reading the study notes and exploring the context, that the richness of the scripture opened up. What seemed simple at first became layered, symbolic, and unexpectedly connected to what I was creating in my kitchen.

That moment of revelation sparked something. The verse spoke of vessels, offerings, and a presently dark church body with the beauty of what is set apart, with a redeemed covering like Gold — and suddenly, the name became clear.

Dark Gold.

A name that reflects depth, richness, and something sacred beneath the surface. A name born from scripture, study, and a spark of understanding that only comes when you slow down and let the meaning rise to the top.

So, our first entry dish carries more than flavor. It carries intention. It carries revelation. It carries a reminder that sometimes the beauty of a thing — whether a verse or a dessert — is discovered only when you take the time to look again.

Like our holy Father Yahweh does us.

Dark Gold, you're born.
